Phoenix played several shows in LA in continued support of Ti Amo, one of the best albums of 2017. The 5-night residency took place at the Fonda Theatre in early September, and was filled with special guests, gelato, and exclusive merch.

French pop-rock band Phoenix brought a magical experience of Italian themed party to The Fonda, which is a 1200-person capacity venue in Los Angeles. The words “Una notte molto speciale con Phoenix!” welcomed you as you were making your way through the entrance.

The party began with a presenter introducing the band in Italian. Phoenix kicked the night off with J-Boy followed by their all-time hits like Lasso and Lisztomania, which got the entire crowd singing along.

Followed by a lively performance of Ti Amo, Phoenix played Playground Love, Telefono, Fior di latte, 1901, and Ti amo di piu. Thomas Mars even used the telephone booth during Telefono, recreating the voicemail from the beginning of the song. No Phoenix show would be complete without 1901 - a smashing hit of the night when the audience screamed and shouted the infectious “Fold it” chorus. The show also got a special rendition of Ti Amo, during which Mars went to high-five the audience and crowd-surfed his way around the room.

The band was delivering vibrant and intimate shows night after night, and it truly was an experience. The residency also got several surprises. During the second night Phoenix decided to surprise their fans by inviting Beck. The iconic singer walked onstage and joined the band to play Lost Cause and Jack Ass. Also, Giorgio Poi joined Phoenix during the other night (September 10th) to perform Lovelife.

At the end of the show the crowd was encouraged to continue at the rooftop. Going full Italian, the Phoenix’ after party was filled with pizza and gelato. The Hollywood residency delivered some exceptional experience to the fans.
